Marvel has apparently found its villain for its upcoming Secret Invasion series—Kingsley Ben-Adir, who recently starred in One Night in Miami as Malcolm X.
The series is one of the latest that the studio has announced in the works, and he’ll star opposite Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) and Ben Mendelsohn (Talos).
Deadline broke the casting news, saying that they’ve heard that Ben-Adir will play the show’s “lead villain,” although it isn’t clear who he will be portraying.
Last September, we learned that Marvel was working on a Nick Fury-centric series that would star Jackson, and during Disney’s investors presentation last December, we got some more details about the series—it would pick up some of the lingering storylines left by Captain Marvel, and that it would be called Secret Invasion. The series seems like it’ll be loosely based off of the 2008 comic series that featured an invasion from the shape-shifting Skrulls, who were first introduced in Captain Marvel.
Since then, we’ve seen a bit from the Skrulls [spoilers for Wandavision] during the final episode of Wandavision, in which a Skrull recruits Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) for a space mission at the bequest of Fury.
There’s no date set for series, but it’ll begin filming next month.
